Ukraine discussed a peace formula with China

The first Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiga met with Chinese Ambassador to Ukraine Fan Xianjun. One of the topics of discussion was the participation of the People's Republic of China in the peace summit. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, April 22.

"The parties discussed the issue of intensifying the Ukrainian-Chinese political dialogue, the prospects of China's participation in the implementation of the peace formula of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and in the first inaugural peace summit in Switzerland," the statement reads.

Sibiga and the Chinese ambassador agreed that it is important to adhere to the principles of the UN Charter, international law and mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted the growth of trade between China and Ukraine, which reached 12.8 billion dollars in 2023. The parties also exchanged views on the expansion of cooperation in the agro-industrial sphere.

It will be recalled that earlier Chinese leader Xi Jinping held talks with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Beijing, during which he stated that Beijing supports holding a peace conference on Ukraine, but with the participation of Russia.
