Jan 2, 2025

Ukraine hopes that in 2025 it will be possible to achieve a just and lasting peace with Russia. Canada's presidency of the Group of Seven can help with this.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the social network X.

“Canada's presidency of the G7 has begun today. And we all look forward to this year - to the fact that thanks to our common strength in 2025 we will be able to achieve a stable and just peace,” Zelensky said.

He reminded that Canada has been supporting Ukraine in its battle for independence since the beginning of the full-scale war. The President thanked for all the assistance and cooperation with the G7 countries.

“Over the past years of cooperation, we have proved together that the unity of the largest democracies can make life more secure. We expect the same results in the new year. Together, we must make sure that Moscow does not benefit from this war,” the Head of State added.

It is worth noting that in 2024, Italy chaired the G7. In 2025, Canada took over the presidency.
