On the night of January 2, the Russian Federation (RF) launched 72 Shahed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and other types of drones against Ukraine. Air defense managed to shoot down 47 of them.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the Telegram channel of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
The enemy launched drones from the directions of Russian Bryansk, Orel, Kursk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.

As of 08:30 a.m., 47 drones were confirmed downed in Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, and a number of other regions. Another 24 drones were lost locally without any negative consequences.
One of the launched drones is still in Ukrainian airspace.
