Biden calls Trump's statements about threats to allies dangerous

Feb 12, 2024

US President Joe Biden has responded to statements by his predecessor, Donald Trump, who said he had threatened allies to "encourage" Russia to aggression in order to force them to increase their contributions to collective security.

Biden's words are cited by The Hill.

The current head of the White House called Trump's remarks "terrible and dangerous."

He also warned that Trump's potential second term would destroy American international relations and encourage US enemies.

"Donald Trump's admission that he intends to give Putin the green light to continue his war and violence, to continue his brutal attack on a free Ukraine, and to spread his aggression to the people of Poland and the Baltic states is appalling and dangerous," Biden said.

He also called the remarks expected from a man "who promises to rule like a dictator on day one if he returns to the Oval Office, just like those he praises."
