US presidential candidate Kamala Harris has delivered her final speech to tens of thousands of people. She warned that a second Trump administration would bring “chaos and division,” saying it was time to “turn the page.”
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Axios.
Exactly a week before Election Day (Tuesday in America), Harris said that the United States is “not a vessel for the schemes of future dictators” but “the greatest idea ever invented by mankind.”
“In 7 days, we will have the opportunity to turn the page and start writing the next chapter of the most extraordinary story ever told,” the US vice president said.
The publication notes that the Democratic candidate spoke at the Ellipse in Washington, DC. That is, at the same venue where former US President Donald Trump spoke on January 6, 2021, a few minutes before an angry crowd of his supporters stormed the Capitol. As Axios writes, standing there, Harris said that her GOP rival is “unstable, obsessed with revenge, obsessed with grudges, and seeking unchecked power.”
“This is the man who stood in this very spot almost four years ago and sent an armed mob to the United States Capitol to overthrow the will of the people in a free and fair election that he knew he lost,” Harris said.-
Axios added that in the final days of her campaign, the US vice president has ramped up her rhetoric, portraying the former president as a fundamental threat to the republic and promising to “be a president for all Americans.”
She also acknowledged on Tuesday that the biggest challenge facing the United States is to “reduce spending, which was rising even before the pandemic and is still too high.”
Polls consistently show that the economy is the most important issue for voters. In this regard, some Democrats are concerned that voters know little about Harris' economic platform.
During her speech, the vice president tried to contrast her plan with Trump's, saying that he would “provide tax breaks to his billionaire donors,” while she would provide tax breaks to “workers and the middle class.”
