Pro-Russian hackers attack Romania

Jun 21, 2024

Romania's National Directorate of Cybersecurity (DNSC) documented 25 DDoS attacks on Romanian websites by Russian-affiliated hacker groups during June 17-21.

This is stated in the DNSC report.

Cyberattacks by pro-Russian hackers, as noted, targeted Romanian government agencies and private organizations in the "financial, banking, transport and telecommunications sectors."

"The Directorate's team warned the attacked organizations in advance, as the attacks were announced in advance on online chat platforms used by the attackers, and maintained constant contact with them," the DNSC added.

They noted that no significant interruptions in the operation of the attacked sites were observed, but there were "short periods of unavailability of services."

DDoS attacks involve the generation of a huge flow of connection requests, which can lead to interruptions in the operation or disruption of the targeted sites.
