China and Russia will hold joint military exercises codenamed "North/Interaction-2023." They will be held in the Sea of Japan.
This was reported by Reuters.
The Chinese Ministry of Defense notes that a Chinese navy flotilla consisting of five warships and four shipboard helicopters has left the eastern port of Qingdao to join the Russian navy and air force in the Sea of Japan for joint exercises aimed at "safeguarding the security of strategic waterways".
It is noted that for the first time, two Russian warships, the Gromky and the Sovremenny, will take part in the exercises.
It is worth noting that the day before, Liu Zhenli, Chief of the Joint Staff of the Central Military Commission of China, held a video call with Russian Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov. The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen military ties.
