On Tuesday, the Foreign Policy Committee of the National Council (lower house of parliament) of Switzerland submitted a proposal to approve a program to support Ukraine worth at least five billion francs (5.03 billion euros).
This was reported by Yevropeiska Pravda.
According to the decision of the relevant committee, the Federal Council (government) was instructed to present a plan to support Ukraine.
The majority of parliamentarians agreed that Ukraine needs significant financial support, especially for humanitarian aid, protection of civilians, demining, peacebuilding, and restoration of civilian infrastructure.
At the same time, there were isolated warnings that many issues related to Ukraine's recovery and international cooperation in this area still need to be clarified and that this process is ongoing, so it is inappropriate to determine a support contribution now.
In addition, the Foreign Policy Committee of the National Council of Switzerland discussed the country's activities in international forums, as well as the current visit of the Chinese leader to Russia and its geopolitical consequences.
