In the temporarily occupied Melitopol, there are more Russian soldiers than local civilians.
This was stated by Melitopol Mayor Ivan Fedorov on the air of the national telethon "United News", Ukrinform reports.
"There are 60,000-70,000 civilians left in Melitopol. People say that there are more Russian military than civilians. The enemy chose Melitopol as its logistics center, and that's why there are so many military there. These are not only those who are at the front. There are also those who are responsible for suppressing resistance," emphasized Fedorov.
He reminded that the governor of the captured part of the region, Yevhen Balytsky, created another "volunteer formation" by his "order", but no one is in a hurry to join it voluntarily.
In addition, the enemy has started another wave of military registration.
"Previously, they created a fake military registration and enlistment office and forced everyone to register for military service with subsequent mobilization and conscription, and now they have set up so-called military desks at enterprises. That is, at companies with more than two employees, everyone must be registered for military service," he added.-
According to the mayor, forced passportization continues in the city and strong pressure is being exerted on people.
In the temporarily occupied Melitopol alone, the invaders have taken more than 1,000 people captive. According to Fedorov, there is information that the prisoners are being sent to dig trenches and fortifications.
