Earlier this week, the U.S. Department of Justice officially announced charges against two Russians believed to be involved in the scheme. The network was exposed in cooperation with British experts and other international partners.

Government cyber specialists managed to seize control of the servers used by LockBit administrators and prevent them from continuing their activities. In addition, they managed to obtain keys to unlock the infected computers, and the victims can contact the FBI for help.

LockBit is called one of the most active groups of this type in the world, having caused damage to more than 2,000 victims in the United States and other countries and extorted more than $120 million.
