Zelensky says Putin may participate in peace summit

Oct 30, 2024

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin does not want to participate in the peace summit. He does not know what to do after the war is over.

This is reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing an interview with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy for representatives of the leading media of the Northern European countries.

The head of state emphasized that Ukraine needs to be strengthened before any negotiations.

According to him, Kyiv is ready for Russia to take part in the second peace summit, but there must be a peace plan for this. A plan to engage the countries of the Global South is also needed.

Zelenskyy assured that Ukraine is ready to supplement its plan with points proposed by China, Brazil and other countries, if such points are based on the UN Charter and help stop the fighting.

“We are ready, we are very open. But when they heard that I was ready, they said that Ukraine only wants their plan. No,” he added.

According to the president, Kyiv will prepare a peace plan in November anyway, and if there are proposals from other countries, a joint plan can be created.

“If they (the countries of the Global South - ed.) want to invite Putin, fine, let them. But there is one thing. He doesn't want to, because he doesn't know what to do after this war, what he will do next. We have our plan, but he has his own plan,” Zelensky emphasized.
