German Chancellor Olaf Scholz arrived in Kyiv on Monday, December 2, for an unannounced visit. This is the second visit of the Chancellor since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Spiegel.
According to the publication, by visiting Ukraine, Scholz wants to make it clear that Germany continues to stand by the country invaded by Russia.
“For more than 1,000 days, Ukraine has been heroically defending itself against Russia's merciless war of aggression,” Scholz said upon his arrival in Kyiv.
According to him, Germany “will remain the strongest supporter of Ukraine in Europe,” Scholz also expressed hope for a quick delivery of weapons.
“During my meeting with President Zelenskyy, I will announce further arms deliveries worth 650 million euros, which should be delivered by the end of December. We say what we will do. And we are doing what we say,” the Chancellor said.
