Trump endorses Johnson after voting to help Ukraine

Apr 23, 2024

Former US President Donald Trump has publicly supported House Speaker Mike Johnson, who put to a vote a bill with additional aid to Ukraine despite the opposition of extreme right-wing party members.

According to The Guardian, Trump said this in an interview with right-wing radio host John Fredericks.

Speaking about his attitude towards Johnson, the former president noted that the Republicans now have an actual advantage of only one vote in the House of Representatives, and this "does not mean that he (Johnson - Ed.) can go and do whatever he wants."

"I think he's a very good person. You know, he supported me very strongly on NATO when I said that NATO should pay... I think he is a very good person. I think he's trying very hard," Trump added.
