Ukraine will receive $825 million from the US for energy restoration

Ukraine and the United States sign a memorandum of cooperation in the energy sector worth $825 million. The document provides for the restoration of critical infrastructure and reform of the energy sector.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

Reportedly, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga and U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the governments of Ukraine and the United States on cooperation in ensuring the sustainability of Ukraine's energy system at NATO headquarters.

The Memorandum provides for the possibility of US assistance totaling up to $825 million.

The document creates a legal framework for improving the resilience of Ukraine's energy system, including

  • restoration of critical infrastructure;
  • introduction of distributed generation;
  • reforming the energy sector;
  • facilitating the post-war transition to a low-carbon, competitive and European-integrated economy.
