The administration of current US President Joe Biden is seeking to approve the sale of a $680 million arms package to Israel amid a ceasefire in Lebanon.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Reuters.
According to a US official, the weapons package for Israel includes thousands of JDAM precision-guided bomb kits and hundreds of small-diameter bombs.
The package was prepared for several months and was considered in Congress in September-October.
It is noted that the sale of equipment made possible a $20 billion package that the United States approved in August, which included fighter jets.
A State Department spokesperson declined to confirm the sale to Reuters, but said that the United States' support for Israel's security is unwavering, while it is committed to protecting civilians.
