Fico answers when Slovakia will resume cooperation with Russia

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico says he will resume cooperation with Russia. This will happen immediately after the end of the war in Ukraine.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Politico.

According to the publication, Fico wants to continue to buy Russian gas and oil and maintain existing transit routes through Ukraine. He has also promised to restore relations with Russia if the war in Ukraine ends during his term as leader.

“If the war ends during the mandate (2023-2027 - ed.) of this government, I will do everything possible to restore economic and standard relations with Russia,” he said at a press conference.

These statements were made on the eve of a joint meeting of the governments of Slovakia and Ukraine, at which Bratislava wants to convince Kyiv to remain a transit country for Russian gas.
