Ukraine is a sovereign country and does not need permission from the United States to strike targets in Russia.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to State Department spokesman Matthew Miller.
He noted that Ukraine does not need US permission to strike back at Russian targets.
“Ukraine is sovereign and can use the weapons it creates on its own. And there are a lot of them, if you look at the programs that Ukrainians have introduced over the past year. If you look at the weapons that we have provided them, we have made it clear that they can use them to retaliate against Russian targets across the border that are carrying out attacks,” the spokesman said.
Miller also added that the United States is always considering additional tools that it can provide to Kyiv. And he recalled the nearly $8 billion military aid package approved last week by President Joe Biden.
