According to the publication, India is currently in an unreliable position, as it has two hostile neighbors - Pakistan in the northwest and China in the north. It is worth noting that India has already fought with Pakistan several times over the disputed Kashmir region. But India has a number of border disputes with China.

According to Forbes, the first and foremost lesson that India learned from the Russian-Ukrainian war is the importance of sustainable defense. In particular, it is about fire control over the buffer zone, which allows controlling any enemy offensive. In particular, both the Russian and Ukrainian militaries have successfully achieved sustained defense through artillery and drones. Thus disrupting large-scale enemy offensives.

Against this background, India has accelerated its efforts to modernize its artillery systems. Following the example of Ukraine, India is introducing standards for heavy artillery up to 155 mm caliber, which is used by most Western countries. The Indian arsenal, in particular, already has some 155-mm artillery pieces that were purchased from Sweden and the United Kingdom. India is also trying to create its own howitzer of this caliber.
