Estonia intends to change the structure of military aid to Ukraine, focusing it on products from Estonian companies. In 2023, Estonia provided assistance to Ukraine worth about 100 million euros, which is 0.25% of the country's GDP.
This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Estonia Hanno Pevkur, RBC-Ukraine reports citing ERR.
In the coming years, Estonia will continue to support Ukraine, but the focus will be on locally produced goods.
According to Pevkur, Estonia has already begun negotiations with Ukraine on their priorities in order to adapt its products to Ukrainian needs.
The Estonian defense industry is capable of producing a wide range of goods worth more than 100 million euros a year, including drones, mine clearance and surveillance systems, military boats, and anti-aircraft guns.
The Minister noted that Estonian military products supplied to Ukraine have received high marks and remain in demand. Among the successful deliveries are drones, military boats and anti-crow rifles. After agreeing on the priorities of the Ukrainian side, Estonia plans to organize tenders for its defense companies.
