New NATO Secretary General calls Ukraine a top priority

Mark Rutte's top priority as NATO Secretary General will be Ukraine. Investments in collective defense and relations with allies outside the bloc are also important.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Rutte's briefing in Brussels, which was broadcast on Youtube.

“It is difficult to distinguish between the three priorities, because, of course, Ukraine is at the top of the list. But we also need to do more in terms of our collective defense and deterrence, we need to invest and try to achieve all the goals that NATO has stated,” he said.

According to him, thirdly, we need to do more to make sure that we really build on the NATO partnerships that have been established over the years, including the Far East.”

“All three (priorities - ed.) are equally important, but obviously Ukraine is dominating our thoughts,” Rutte added.
