The chairman of the Bundestag Defense Committee, Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, has called on the German government to supply Ukraine with Taurus cruise missiles.

This is reported by the German media outlet BR24.

"The Chancellor has always assured us that he is focused on the United States," she said.

She noted that as a result of the US decision, she now sees the need for action on the part of the German government.

"The United States will now supply Ukraine with long-range ATACMS missiles. This is a sufficient reason to act now on the Taurus issue," Strack-Zimmermann said.

As a reminder, in 2023, Ukraine asked Germany to provide long-range Taurus missiles with a range of 500 kilometers. However, the German government has been evasive in responding to this request, and Chancellor Olaf Scholz is categorically against it, citing the fact that such supplies would require the presence of the German military on the territory of Ukraine.

Scholz also expressed his concern that the improper use of the missiles could lead to a strike on targets on Russian territory, particularly in Moscow.
