This was stated by Petro Panteleev, Deputy Chairman of the KMDA, reports RBC-Ukraine with reference to the website of the Kyiv City State Administration.

He noted that the capital's energy facilities were subjected to more than a dozen shellings, as a result of which more than half of the generating capacities were disabled.

"Colossal work has been carried out, and now two-thirds have been restored. It is important that the most modern European technologies and equipment are used. As a result, the city's energy facilities, which were built mainly in the Soviet period, are being modernized and are becoming much more efficient," Panteleev said.

Restoration and modernization projects became part of the concept "Energy Restoration: The Path to Distributed cogeneration".

"We plan to decentralize the system of electricity and heat production by building small and medium-capacity thermal power plants. In addition, the city is developing a cluster of autonomous facilities in conditions of a possible lack of electricity. Without this, high-quality preparation for winter is impossible," the official said.

In particular, all Kyiv hospitals are equipped with generators, more than a hundred boiler houses of the centralized heating system also have generators, and 175 pump stations can also be quickly connected to autonomous power sources.

"Now we are increasing the number of mobile portable boiler rooms. It is within the framework of the Project "Reformation of the Central Heat Supply Sector in Ukraine" that solar panels are being installed in medical institutions in Kyiv," said the deputy head of the KMDA.

Petro Panteleev also reminded that there are about 11,000 high-rise buildings in the capital, most of which have engineering equipment that depends on electricity. We are talking about pumps of water supply systems, heating, elevators, etc.

"The city has developed and implemented four programs as tools for home communities to install backup power. These are the 70/30 co-financing program for energy-efficient measures, the co-financing program for repairs, the program for compensating funds for the purchase of alternative power and the program for providing preferential loans. Today, there are already more than 1,000 home communities took part in such programs and implemented energy-efficient measures," the official summarized.
