The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) plans to decide on the provision of additional air defense systems and the transfer of more ammunition to Ukraine before the summit in Washington.

This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing an interview with a CBS official.

According to him, all members of the Alliance agreed to increase assistance to Ukraine, both in the form of new military training and long-term commitments.

"I also expect that before the [NATO] summit, which begins next week, Allies will make new announcements on strengthening air defense and increasing the amount of ammunition," the Secretary General said.

Stoltenberg also added that NATO will take over the provision and coordination of security assistance to Ukraine. In particular, a command with logistics centers will be set up in Germany, where equipment for training the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be deployed. The Secretary General emphasized that "this will be a major and important outcome of the Summit, providing a stronger basis for our support to Ukraine."

"The main task of the Alliance is to ensure Ukraine's victory. This is a prerequisite for the country's future membership in NATO," Stoltenberg said.

He also noted that NATO and its allies want peace, and the only way to achieve it is to convince Russian dictator Vladimir Putin that he will not win on the battlefield.

"He (Putin - ed.) has to sit down and make a decision where Ukraine will prevail as a sovereign, independent state in Europe. The only way to convince Putin that he will not win on the battlefield is to provide military support to Ukraine from abroad. So, a long-term negotiated solution for Ukraine requires its military support," Stoltenberg said.
