The American state of North Carolina has recognized the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
This was stated by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA Oksana Markarova, reports RBC-Ukraine regarding her message on Twitter.
"We are grateful to the state of North Carolina and the 75th governor of North Carolina, Roy Cooper, for re-recognizing the Holodomor as genocide on the 90th anniversary of the Holodomor in Ukraine," she wrote.
The Holodomor of 1932-1933 is considered one of the most tragic events in Ukrainian history. Mass famine led to millions of victims. Historians note that about 7 million people died as a result of the Holodomor.
