Ukraine has already organized a new contact group. It includes several European countries that will develop a common position on ending the war.
This was announced before the talks by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and German chancellor candidate Friedrich Merz, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing Ukrinform.
Merz spoke out against certain peace initiatives regarding Ukraine from European countries. According to him, European countries should have a common position on the issue of ending the war.
“It is not only about the EU. I have a proposal to create a Contact Group of Germany, France, Poland, and the UK - four major European countries and NATO - to exchange views (on the end of the war - ed.), and thus develop a common vision with the United States. I think we should discuss how you perceive this idea,” the politician said.
At the same time, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that he supports such an initiative.
“To be honest, we have already organized (the Contact Group - ed.). The countries you mentioned are already there, and we are counting on Denmark as a representative of the Nordic group. We are counting on all of them, but it is Denmark that could represent the Nordic team. We want to hold such a meeting in December. You see, we already have a lot of opinions in common,” the Head of State added.-
