US House of Representatives did not support Ukraine's 2025 Lend-Lease

Dec 12, 2024

In the United States, the House of Representatives passed the defense budget for 2025. However, the document does not contain a provision to extend the landmark defense program for Ukraine.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the Facebook post of Ukraine's Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova.

According to her, this year's National Defense Authorization Act for 2025 (NDAA), approved by the Senate, contained provisions to extend the term of the Ukraine Democracy Assistance Act, and the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States actively advocated for it.

“However, the bill approved by the House of Representatives did not contain such a provision. The consolidated text of the bill does not include a corresponding provision,” the Ambassador stated.

However, according to her, the embassy continues to work actively to preserve this mechanism, which is, in particular, provided for in the bipartisan and bicameral bill “Stand with Ukraine Act”.
