Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk believes that peace talks to end the war between Ukraine and Russia could begin this winter.
According to RBC-Ukraine, Reuters cites the Polish Prime Minister's statement.
During a government meeting, the Polish prime minister said that after Poland's EU presidency begins on January 1, he will “hold a series of talks that primarily concern the situation on Poland's eastern border.”
“As you can imagine, our delegation will be jointly responsible, in particular, for what the political calendar will look like, perhaps for what the situation will be during the negotiations (to end the war between Ukraine and Russia - ed.), which may, although it is still in question, begin this winter,” Tusk added.
He noted that on Thursday, December 12, French President Emmanuel Macron will visit Warsaw to talk about the talks with US President-elect Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Paris.
The prime minister also clarified that he is in constant contact with the Scandinavian and Baltic countries. In the first days of Poland's EU presidency, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is scheduled to visit Warsaw.
“I really want Poland to be a country that will not only be present, but will also set the tone in making decisions that should bring us security and ensure Polish interests,” Tusk said.-
