Ukraine will not recognize the temporarily occupied territories as Russian. Legally, this is impossible.

According to RBC-Ukraine, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in an interview with CBN.

“If we had a lot of forces, equipment, what we asked our partners for, we would be able to put pressure on the front faster. If we don't have enough forces, then of course some issues can be resolved diplomatically. And this is right,” Zelensky said.

However, he emphasized that Ukraine will not legally recognize the occupied territories as Russian.

“Many people used to live there. They lost their homes, some gave their lives, many people are in captivity, tens of thousands of children were deported. They destroyed a lot of things. How can we recognize that land of ours as Russian? Does that mean we should forgive them for everything?” the president added.

According to him, if Ukraine legally recognizes the temporarily occupied territories as Russian, “it means we have forgiven them (Russians - ed.), it means the world has calmed down and given them an opportunity.”

“Therefore, legally it is impossible. But. But diplomatically, we have to achieve our goals. The goals are a sustainable and secure peace, and a faster one for Ukraine,” Zelensky emphasized.
