President Volodymyr Zelenskyy used a meeting in Paris with the 47th White House chief of staff Donald Trump to explain to him Ukraine's need for security guarantees in ending a full-scale war with the Russian Federation (RF).
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Reuters.
According to Reuters, the conversation between Zelenskyy, Trump, and French President Emmanuel Macron lasted 35 minutes and did not include specific details about any vision of peace. At the same time, the 47th President of the United States of America (USA) repeated his words that he wants an immediate ceasefire, as well as a dialogue to end the war.
Another source said that Trump was “friendly, respectful, and open and seemed to be willing to listen.”
“Some key points were mentioned during the meeting - for example, it was said that peace needs guarantees, because the ceasefire alone is not enough, Putin (Vladimir Putin, Russia's dictator - ed.) can violate it again, as he did before, without proper guarantees,” the source in the Office of the President of Ukraine said.
Other unnamed officials who are close to Trump explained that the Republican is currently focusing the meetings on building personal relationships.
In general, Zelenskyy and Macron were “on the same page” during the meeting and did not try to push Trump into a dead end.
