Resolving the situation with the Russian-Ukrainian war will be a top foreign policy priority for US President-elect Donald Trump after he takes office on January 20. He plans to act quickly.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Trump's interview with Paris Match.
“I think we need to solve the Ukrainian problem with Russia,” he said.
The interview was recorded during Trump's visit to France on November 7 and published on November 11.
“Both of these countries are losing numbers that no one can believe. Hundreds of thousands of soldiers are dying,” Trump said when asked about his top priority in the international arena.-
According to him, the Middle East is also a bigger priority, but “it's a less complicated situation than Ukraine and Russia.”
“But these are two situations that we need to resolve, and we need to do it quickly. A lot of people are dying,” he added.-
Trump arrived in Paris to attend the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral after a devastating fire in 2019. During his visit to France, which was his first international trip since his re-election, he met with French President Emmanuel Macron and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“We had a good meeting with President Zelenskiy,” Trump said.-
Zelenskiy said he was grateful to Trump for his “firm determination” to end the war in Ukraine.
