Biden authorizes Ukraine to strike at Russian territory with ATACMS missiles

For the first time, US President Joe Biden authorized Ukraine's use of long-range ATACMS missiles in Russia. This happened two months before the end of his presidential term.

According to officials, the weapons will most likely be used to protect the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region.

The NYT notes that Biden's decision is a major shift in US policy. The choice has divided his advisers, and it comes two months before President-elect Donald Trump takes office, who has pledged to limit further support for Ukraine.
