Joe Biden's administration will step up its support for Ukraine in the months before Donald Trump returns to the presidency and will try to strengthen NATO during this time.
This was stated by U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, RBC-Ukraine reports citing Reuters.
At a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Brussels, Biden also said that sending North Korean troops to help Russia in the war in Ukraine would receive a “tough response.”
Blinken said that at a meeting with Rutte at NATO headquarters, they discussed support for Ukraine, where Russian troops are making progress on the eastern front line, as well as the work that NATO needs to do to strengthen its defense industrial base.
According to him, the outgoing US administration “will continue to support everything we do for Ukraine.”
“President Biden intends to go fully across the border and use every day to continue to do what we've been doing for the last four years, which is strengthening this alliance,” Blinken said.
According to him, the deployment of North Korean troops to support Russia in the conflict “requires and will receive a tough response.”
Rutte said that “Russia has not won” in Ukraine, which it invaded in February 2022. “Obviously, we need to do more to ensure that Ukraine can continue to fight and can repel the Russian offensive as much as possible, and to prevent Putin from succeeding in Ukraine,” he said.
