Britain “considers scenarios” of changes in US policy towards Ukraine
The United Kingdom is considering all possible scenarios regarding the approach of US President-elect Donald Trump to Ukraine. British officials are discussing and planning various options for further cooperation.
This was stated by the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Darren Jones, RBC-Ukraine reports citing Sky News.
According to Jones, the United Kingdom will continue to cooperate with the Biden administration until Trump's inauguration, adhering to the current policy of supporting Ukraine, which coincides with the UK's position.
“Our support for Ukraine remains unwavering,” - Jones emphasized, adding that the UK is offering £3 billion a year in funding despite the economic difficulties.
After Trump takes office, the UK is ready to discuss with the new administration possible changes in US policy to support Ukraine.
At the same time, Jones noted that he is not ready to commit to reaching 2.5% of GDP in defense spending, as security priorities need to be balanced with other areas of the budget.
