The Czech Republic is receiving new helicopters from the United States, while it is decommissioning old Mi-24Bs and plans to transfer them to Ukraine.
This was stated by Czech Defense Minister Jana Černochová, according to ČT24.
According to her, the Mi-24B/35 helicopters have done an excellent job, although they have served longer than expected. From the United States, the Czech Republic will receive UH-1Y Venom and AH-1Z Viper helicopters.
"Even if we symbolically say goodbye to them today, their story is definitely not over. We will definitely find a use for these helicopters. That's all I'll say on the matter, because as a matter of principle I do not comment on deliveries to Ukraine," the Defense Minister said.
The minister did not say how many helicopters she was talking about. She clarified that the Czech Republic also needs spare parts for Mi series helicopters. They are on the sanctions list, so it is not easy to buy them.
