The European Union is using the Civil Protection Mechanism to help Ukraine after Russia blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant dam.
This was announced by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
According to Von der Leyen, the European Commission is coordinating with EU member states to quickly deliver drainage pumps, fire hoses, mobile water treatment plants, and boats to Ukraine.
"We will be with Ukraine as long as it takes," she emphasized.
The President of the European Commission emphasized that Russia will have to pay for the war crimes committed in Ukraine: "The destruction of the dam, an outrageous attack on civilian infrastructure, endangers the lives of thousands of people in the Kherson region."
