Finland is proposing to deploy a NATO military base in the city of Kaugava in the west of the country.
This was stated in a press release by the mayor of the city, Vesa Rantala, according to Yevropeiska Pravda.
He justifies the desire to locate the NATO base by the city's good location in terms of the Baltic, the Baltic Sea, and all the northern countries.
The mayor also points out that Kaugava was home to Finland's only military airfield until 2015.
