Rutte announces a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council

The next meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council will take place on Thursday, October 17. It will be held at the level of defense ministers.

This was stated by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, RBC-Ukraine reports citing the NATO press service.

According to Rutte, the meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council will take place on Thursday evening. During the meeting, defense ministers of NATO member states will meet with their Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umerov.

It is planned that during the meeting the participants will discuss the situation on the battlefield in Ukraine and the most urgent needs of Ukrainian defenders.

Rutte also added that the work on establishing a new NATO command in Wiesbaden to coordinate assistance and training for Ukraine, as well as the fulfillment of the promise to provide 40 billion euros in military aid to Ukraine, is in full swing.

“NATO Allies have provided 20.9 billion euros in military assistance to Ukraine in the first half of 2024, and Allies are on track to fulfill their commitments by the end of the year,” the Secretary General emphasized.
