Will the US be able to provide aid to Ukraine and Israel at the same time?

The United States of America feels comfortable honoring its commitments to its allies. In many cases, these are different types of assistance systems from the United States.

Ambassador Julianne Smith, the U.S. Permanent Representative to NATO, answered this question to RBC-Ukraine during an online briefing for journalists.

During the briefing, an RBC-Ukraine journalist asked Smith whether the United States would be able to provide assistance to Ukraine and Israel simultaneously if a major war broke out in the Middle East.

According to her, the United States currently feels comfortable honoring its commitments to its allies and partners both in the Middle East and Ukraine. The United States is also currently honoring its commitments in other parts of the world, including the Indo-Pacific region.

“In many cases, it's different types of systems that are provided, sometimes using different forms of assistance within the U.S. government,” Smith said.

She also believes that there are no individuals in Washington who view U.S. assistance as a “zero-sum effort in any way, shape, or form.”

“We believe that because of the great contributions of many countries around the world to Ukraine, we can together continue to provide what they need while ensuring that we can defend Israel,” she emphasized.
