First deaths due to flooding in occupied Oleshky

The temporarily occupied town of Oleshky in the Kherson region has already seen its first deaths as a result of flooding after the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant exploded.

This was reported by the mayor of the city, Yevhen Ryshchuk, on Espresso.

"There is already information about the first victims. It was in Oleshky. I have received confirmed information," Ryshchuk said.

Ryshchuk clarified in a comment to Suspilne that as of now, three people have been reported dead.

"We already have one dead person. Two more people have been brought to the hospital. I think there will be much more. Many people are bedridden, some are legless, how can a legless person get on the roof?" Ryshchuk said.

He also added that in the late afternoon, the Russian military began evacuating people from the roofs.
