Germany will continue to provide assistance to Ukraine in 2025. This will happen despite the collapse of the coalition.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Reuters.
The publication noted that Germany will be able to provide most of the 4 billion euros promised to Ukraine, even if the budget for 2025 is not adopted on time due to the collapse of the coalition government.
This is because the funds are basically earmarked allocations, so they can be released under temporary budget management if the budget is not adopted.
At the same time, the likely delay in next year's budget may mean that no new projects will be funded, but some expenditures, such as additional assistance to Ukraine, may still be eligible.
‘Launching new funding programmes will require a decision from the budget committee or the Bundestag... So there is a certain limitation on new programmes, but everything that is already in place can continue as planned,’ said Economy Minister Robert Habeck.
