This was stated by the Commander of the Swedish Naval Forces, Eva Skoog Haslum, RBC-Ukraine reports with reference to SVT.

According to her, the "shadow fleet" of the Russian Federation moves through the Baltic Sea every day and transports several hundred thousand tons of oil products.

Eva Skoog Haslum explained that the country monitors the movements and that there are documents that confirm that some ships can be used for espionage. She claims that the ships of the Russian "shadow fleet" can be used for radio reconnaissance, that is, the interception of messages.

"For example, we find antennas and masts that usually do not belong to a fishing vessel. Therefore, it is clear that what moves in the sea sometimes has other purposes in their activity," she added.

Russia's "shadow fleet" consists of old, often environmentally dangerous ships that are used to export Russian oil to circumvent sanctions.

About half of the sea transportation of oil in Russia today is carried out through the Baltic Sea, it is about 3 million barrels per day.

Another question arises. Why do the Baltic countries, including Sweden, allow illegal ships into the Baltic Sea that circumvent sanctions?
