Russian media report that security forces have detained Igor Strelkov (real name Girkin), an active supporter of the war against Ukraine who became known after 2014.

On Friday, July 21, law enforcement officers detained Igor Strelkov, two law enforcement sources told RBC and Strelkov's lawyer confirmed.
The security forces reportedly took Strelkov from his home around noon. The Investigative Committee is conducting a search of his apartment.
According to preliminary data, the detention was carried out at the request of a former mercenary of the Wagner group.
Igor Girkin-"Strelkov" is a former FSB officer who took an active part in the battles for Sloviansk and the seizure of power in Donetsk in 2014. He strongly supports the war but criticizes the military and political leadership. On April 1, 2023, Girkin-Strelkov, together with Pavel Gubarev and Maxim Kalashnikov, created the Club of Angry Patriots.
