The Japanese government is considering tightening sanctions against Russia and North Korea due to increased military cooperation between the two countries. Among the reasons is the participation of DPRK soldiers in the war against Ukraine on the side of Moscow.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to NHK.
According to the Japanese public broadcaster, Tokyo is considering the possibility of strengthening restrictive measures against Russia and the DPRK, in particular, against the background of Pyongyang's involvement in the Russian-Ukrainian war on the side of the aggressor country.
“Regarding the situation in Ukraine, Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwai met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the 16th, and said that the situation is of serious concern as North Korean soldiers are engaged in battles with the Russian military,” the publication says.
According to NHK, under these circumstances, the Japanese government began to consider strengthening sanctions against North Korea and Russia, arguing that military cooperation between them “has a serious impact on peace and security in Europe and the Indo-Pacific region, and violates international law.”
