Japan to hand over demining machines to Ukraine

The Japanese authorities have decided to transfer four demining vehicles to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES).

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

"The clearance of mines and unexploded ordnance is not only necessary to ensure the safety of residents, but is also a prerequisite for recovery and reconstruction, which is necessary to restore livelihoods, agriculture and industry," the statement said.

The agency noted that Ukrainian rescuers will undergo training before the equipment is delivered.

"The large demining machines are still being manufactured and are scheduled to be delivered later this year. Therefore, we will continue to provide training to the SES personnel on the operation and maintenance of large demining machines, thereby contributing to the development of the SES's capacity to operate the equipment," the statement said.

At the same time, the Foreign Ministry said that Japan will continue to provide support and assistance to the people of Ukraine, who are facing difficulties, in cooperation with the international community, including members of the G7.
