Kuleba: Putin set Orban up

Jul 9, 2024

Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba believes that Russia's missile attack on Ukraine the day before framed Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban with his "peace mission" in the aggressor state.

According to Yevropeiska Pravda, Kuleba said this during a telethon on Tuesday, July 9.

According to the minister, "Putin set up Orban" with a missile strike on Ukraine, in particular on the Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital in Kyiv.

"While Orban flew to Kyiv, then - I will say right away that it was not agreed with Ukraine - flew to Moscow and China, and calls it a "peace mission", talks about a ceasefire, Putin strikes at a children's hospital, at Ukrainian factories, Ukrainian cities, killing dozens of people en masse," Kuleba explained.

"He (Putin - Ed.) puts Orban in a difficult position because, against this background, it becomes extremely difficult to promote the narrative that Putin is ready for some kind of settlement," he added.

The Foreign Minister emphasized that Ukraine had conveyed its position on "peace" to the Hungarian prime minister, which contains two mandatory elements: first, no agreements on Ukraine without Ukraine; second, the basis for ending the war is the "peace formula."
