Lithuania has stepped up border checks

Lithuania has stepped up control and checks of people entering the country from Belarus and Russia, and border guards will carefully check the documents and visas of those who are in transit through the country.

The relevant order was issued by Lithuanian Interior Minister Agne Bilotaite, Delfi reports.

According to her, if the threat level in Lithuania changes, the border may be closed.

In addition, it is noted that on January 1, 2023, 1200 citizens of Belarus and 1300 citizens of Russia were not allowed to enter Lithuania.

During border checks, border guards must make sure that those entering from Russia meet the criteria approved by the government and do not pose a threat to Lithuania's national security, public order, politics, internal security, public health, and international relations, as provided for in the Schengen Borders Code.
