NATO would send troops to Ukraine if Russia did not have nuclear weapons

If the Russian Federation (RF) did not have nuclear weapons, NATO would have deployed troops to Ukrainian territory and helped to push back Russian terrorists. Ukraine is of strategic importance to the Alliance.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, during the Prague Defense Summit held on November 8-10.

“I am absolutely sure that if the Russians did not have nuclear weapons, we would be in Ukraine and would expel them. But they have nuclear weapons,” Bauer said, adding that this is the difference between the wars in Ukraine and Afghanistan.

According to the admiral, he does not consider it impossible to involve NATO troops in the war against Russia, but in this case NATO “takes risks as an alliance”, and therefore it is a “political issue”.

“Later on, everyone says that the red line was not a red line, so why didn't we give those weapons earlier? But if you look at the problem in the future-when there is a question and you don't necessarily understand the consequences-then it is much more difficult,” he explained.

He also noted that Ukraine cannot be compared to Afghanistan because it is of “strategic importance” to NATO. Because of this, the United States should not allow dictator Vladimir Putin to emerge victorious from the war.
