New aid to Ukraine will be "very soon"

Apr 22, 2024

U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O'Brien says that Ukraine will receive a new package of U.S. military aid "very soon" after it is approved by Congress.

He said this at a meeting with Ukrainian journalists on Monday in Kyiv, a correspondent of Yevropeiska Pravda reports.

According to O'Brien, new US military assistance will be in Ukraine "very soon, as soon as the Senate finishes its work" and President Joe Biden signs the relevant law.

The State Department official refused to specify what exactly might be in the package, but emphasized that it is "the essential assistance that Ukraine needs on the battlefield to succeed."

"The draft law contains provisions to strengthen air defense. It is not only about Patriot. We are also talking about systems that defeat drones, slow-moving missiles, and other means that Russia is trying to attack. So, there will be means to help with this," he said.
