During a Sunday prayer meeting with pilgrims on August 13, Pope Francis prayed for Ukraine.

"And let us also pray for the martyred Ukraine, which is suffering greatly from this war," Pope Francis said.
Among other things, he reminded the world of the tragic situation in the Mediterranean, drawing attention to another loss of lives of migrants heading to the shores of Europe.
"This is an open wound of our humanity. I support the political and diplomatic efforts aimed at healing it in a spirit of solidarity and brotherhood, as well as the efforts of all those who work to prevent shipwrecks and rescue migrants," the Pope said.-
He also sent words of support to those affected by the fires in Hawaii.
