Russian President Vladimir Putin made an address to the Russians about the so-called “special military operation” in Ukraine.
Here are the most important details of the speech according to RBC-Ukraine.
Mobilization in Russia
The Russian president has announced a partial mobilization in Russia. It will begin as early as today.
“Only those citizens who are in the reserve and, above all, those who have served in the ranks of the Armed Forces and have certain military occupational specialties and relevant experience will be subject to conscription,” Putin said.
By the way, a decree on partial mobilization is already published on the Kremlin website.
Nuclear threat
During the address, Putin again threatened Western countries with nuclear weapons, adding that “this is not a bluff”
According to him, Western countries are allegedly pushing Ukraine to transfer hostilities to Russian territory.
“When its territorial integrity is threatened, Russia uses all available means, this is not a bluff,” he said.-
“Referendums” in the seized territories of Ukraine
Putin said that Russia would support the “citizens’ decision” in pseudo-referendums in the seized regions of Ukraine.
“Russia cannot hand over people close to it to the torturer and not respond to their aspirations to determine their own fate. Russia will support the decision that the residents of Donbas, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions will make,” the Russian dictator said.-
The Russian puppets want to hold “referendums” from September 23 to 27, although previously the occupiers” statements included a date of November 4.
According to the Russian media outlet Meduza, the Russian leadership wants to hold so-called “referendums” and annex invaded territories as quickly as possible in order to declare partial mobilization and introduce martial law.
How Ukraine reacts
The head of the presidential office, Andriy Yermak, called the occupiers’ intentions to hold “referendums” on the seized territories a manipulation. He noted that the Russians decided to resort to such methods due to the fear of defeat.
At the same time, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba noted that no “referendums” on the occupied territories and “mobilization” would change anything: Russia will remain the aggressor, while Ukraine will continue to have a full right to liberate its territories.
